Street Play (Nukkad Natak) Competition — Samagra Shiksha, Government of Goa

About the Competition

Rangotsav is a Nukkad Natak (Street Play) Competition organized by Goa Samagra Shiksha for students of Classes V to VIII from Government and Government-Aided Middle/High Schools across Goa. The objective is to encourage students to develop creativity, teamwork, communication skills, and social awareness through the medium of street theatre, while raising awareness on important social, educational, environmental, and national issues.

Approximately 469 schools are expected to participate in this initiative.

Eligibility

  • Participants must be school students of Std V to VIII.
  • One team per school.
  • Involvement of professional artists or performers is not allowed.
  • Open to students of any Government or Government-Aided Middle/High School in Goa.

Team Size

Minimum 8 students, maximum 12 students per team (including musicians).

Duration

Performance time: 8 to 12 minutes. Exceeding the time limit may lead to penalty marks.

Themes

Plays should focus on one of the following themes:

  • Viksit Goa 2047 - A Vision
  • NEP 2020 Awareness
  • Global Warming an Alarming Reality
  • Drug-free India

Language

  • Hindi, Marathi, Konkani, or a combination of these languages may be used.
  • The script must be original and not pirated.

Performance Area

Schools must record the performance and upload the video to the designated link on this portal for evaluation.

Props and Costumes

Teams must bring their own costumes and props. Simple, portable props are encouraged.

Prohibited Items

Fire, smoke effects, dangerous objects, live animals, and electronic sound equipment are strictly prohibited.

Decorum

Vulgar, abusive, offensive, or discriminatory language and actions are not allowed. Participants must maintain discipline and respect.

The decision of the judges will be final and binding on all participants.

Scripts written specially for this competition are eligible for prizes (best 3 scripts only). Judges will select the best scripts for publication in a book.
